DISC Method

The DISC method, used for the personality analysis, works with the four dominant styles of behaviour.

Do you know somebody who is assertive and decisive?
This is the D style. These people are forceful, direct and strong willed.

The D stands for Direct, Dynamic and Decisive.
This style:
-          is independent.
-          is very decisive and has a lot of drive.
-          is result oriented and likes challenges.
-          doesn't shy away from confrontation.

Do you have colleagues and friends who communicate easily and are friendly to almost everybody they meet, even strangers?
This is the I style. These people are optimistic, friendly and impulsive

The I stands for Inspiring, Influence, Outgoing and Optimistic.
This style:
-          loves to talk.
-          is enthusiastic and optimistic.
-          knows a lot of people and easily connects.
-          loves to be the centre of attention.

Do you have colleagues, family or friends who are good listeners and fantastic team players?
This is the S style. These people are steady, patient, loyal and practical.

The S stands for Steady, Social and Sympathetic.
This style:
-          makes sure everybody feels good.
-          likes to finish tasks.
-          brings harmony and stability to the team.
-          likes to work in a team.

Have you ever worked with a person who just enjoys gathering facts and details and who is precise in all his activities?
This is the C style. These people are precise, sensitive and analytical.

The C stands for Cautious, Conscientiousness and Calculating.
This style:
-          is thorough and focused on details.
-          likes to stick to the rules and be compliant.
-          follows procedures and writes them.
-          is diplomatic and an analyst.

Everybody has a score on these styles, which can vary from very high to extremely low, with all varieties in between.
Often, a person scores high on two of the four styles and sometimes even high on three of the four styles.

There is no best style, although, for environmental reasons, you might prefer another style. Each style has some wonderful strengths, but with every set of strengths there is a companion set of struggles.

As we study the styles, we understand why certain people's characteristics help them to excel in certain areas. We can learn to imitate those characteristics to improve our own areas of weakness. The good news is that we can grow, change, and mature to demonstrate characteristics we admire in other styles.
